Roll Up Your Sleeves for Refugees - Fundraiser a Huge Success
Hope AFAR (A Future for Afghan Refugees) held a fundraiser to create funds to enable the education of young Afghan refugees living in Pakistan.
The event was a success, with enough funds raised to enable rent to be covered for eight months, as well as educational materials and two new computers for AFAR's community volunteers in Quetta. Thanks to Southpaw (venue), everyone who attended, contributed, volunteered and donated auction items.
Further contributions can be made by donating to:

Hope AFAR was founded Kate Grealy and Esa-Jan Askari (former Afghan national) after travelling in Pakistan’s border region in 2007. As Askari notes, “travelling in the region and seeing the devastated lives young people lead as refugees in Pakistan is heartbreaking … If I hadn't fled my country I would be in the same position as them. It is so important for us, in such a privileged society, to work to bridge the divide between us and them.”
